I knew that today was going to be an interesting day from the very beginning.  We had a good nights sleep,
woke up at usual times but Robin and I make a good team.  We alternated, Robin took the early shift and I
took the late shift.  However, once the princess awoke, she had us on our toes for awhile.  She was just very
cranky all day.  Robin and I were just talking and that even though she was cranky today, it still was an
unbelievable day.  We realized that she is very cranky until she goes potty, if you know what I mean.  We
decided to break the monotony and go with the group on a tour to the jade market and the pearl markets.
The jade market was very nice.  It is run by the government of course.  However, we did find some good
buys there.  We got Josie some birthday gifts for when she gets older.  Then we went to the pearl market,
which turned out to be the same place we went by ourselves yesterday.  It was a very interesting concept for a
market, because like I said yesterday, everyone has the same stuff.  Once again, Robin found some good
deals there as well.  Then we hit pay dirt.  Connected to the pearl market by a courtyard is another mall type
shopping center, and since we went with the group we didn't have much time, but Robin found a great little
girls clothes store.  It was amazing, we were buying cute little outfits for like $3 each.  Anyway, Robin vowed
to go back and since I saw a guitar store along the way, I'm sure we will find our way back there.  Later we
had dinner in a train car.  It was pretty cool.  Pop's you would have appreciated that.  Dinner was awesome
and the service was fantastic.  We actually had a linner, you know a lunch and dinner combined.  So,
needless to say we were seriously the only ones in the car.  We felt like we had our own private restaurant
with wait staff.  Our server, Jason, literally stood by us the whole time, he even held Josie when she started to
cry.  All so we could finish our dinner.  Now thats what I call service.   It started to rain while in the restaurant,
so we were not able to get any pictures of it outside.  Our server called us a cab so that we didn't have to walk
back in the rain.  Once again, we took Josie back to the playroom to play with her.  She is getting better at
sitting up on her own and getting very close to crawl.  We stayed in there for about two hours.  Alot of the
families were in there playing.  It was nice to talk to everyone and share parenting tips with one another.
Tomorrow is a big day.  It is her medical exam and visa picture day.  The medical exam should be interesting.
She needs to be cleared medically to leave the country.  Well, gotta go to bed, for my daughter will have me
up in couple of hours.  God I love saying that, "my daughter."
Robin is going crazy in this store.
Look at that face.
Here are my ladies playing together in
the playroom.
We wore Josie out after that big
shopping day.
Look at that face, that is her giggling
face.  We were rolling around for a
couple of hours.
Im pretty happy too.  Can you tell?
This is at the restaurant in the train
car.  She was out, but not for long.  Im
learning to eat alot faster than I
normally do.
This is one of our favorites thus far.
Isn't she precious.
July 22, 2005
Last night was a great night, Josie slept the whole night.  We put her down at 9 and she did not awake until about 6
this morning.  She was in a very good mood and slammed a bottle as soon as she woke.  Then the gas came and she
became cranky again.  Not awfully cranky, but she let us know that it bothered her.  We started the gas meds tonight,
so I hope that helps.  We had her medical exam this morning and visa photo.  The photo was obviously not a big deal,
but the exam was something else.  The put all of us into a holding room about 15x10 and then sent us into three
different stations, all within about ten feet of each other.  It was chaos man, babies whaling, parents asking millions of
questions, and Chinese doctors saying "good baby."  Thats all they said, to everyone.  The exam first consisted of
height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure.  Then we were hurried off into the ears, nose, and throat exam.
Finally, the lungs, heart, and to check if she was a boy or girl test exam.  She is 15 lbs and is somewhere around 26
inches long.  And her blood pressure, well, lets just say it was normal.  It was exactly the same for all the girls.  Then
came the ENT exam, to test her hearing the squeezed a squeakybe carefulboth sides of her ears, looked down her
throat, and pulled on hear ears.  To end the chaos, they listened to her heart and lungs, then opened and closed her
diaper and said "good baby".
That was pretty much it.  We again went to the playroom, the pool, and then for the grand finaly dinner.  If you can't
tell, we are getting a little stir crazy.  It kind of sucks living out of a hotel room for this long.  Someone was actually
saying that it was like camping in a 5 star resort, for we have to boil our water, brush our teeth with bottled water, and
be careful of what you eat.  Tomorrow, we are going with some of the families to the toy markets.  Some of the families
went to day and said that it was unbelievable.  Every toy you could imagine.  Its like going into a kids-r-us.  That
should be fun.  Then we have paperwork meeting tomorrow night.  We need to make sure we have everything we
need for our US consulate appointment on Monday.
The stroller make her go to sleep.  She
just woke up from a nap in this shot.
She is laying on her bobo blanket.
She is already very attached to it.
Daddy and Josie taking a little cat
nap after the pool.  She is really
starting to like the pool.
These are just some of
the clothes that we
have bought for her.
You think she is going
to be spoiled.  Thats
ok, better to pay these
prices than back at
home.  We finally got
shoes to fit her, she
only wears a size 1
right now.
This is our waiter Jason from the train
restaurant.  We took the group back
again tonight.  Josie loves him.
